Falafel Middle Eastern Spice Blend

Falafel is probably the most well-known of all Middle Eastern dishes. It is a wonderfully fragrant vegetarian mix that is traditionally shaped into small balls, deep-fried and served in a wrap with Tahini sauce, Hummus and salad.

You could also serve the little Falafel balls as a canape or an entree, drizzled with Tahini sauce and accompanied by pickled gherkins, tomato or cucumber. Tabbouleh salad is also a wonderful setting for the delicious Falafel.

The Sami's Kitchen Falafel blend would also suit fish or vegetable dishes.

Shawarma Blend - Middle Eastern Spice Blend

Flava has found it and now stocks Sami's Kitchen middle eastern spice blends.
Shawarma is one of the most popular meat dishes in the Middle East. It is traditionally grilled on a large rotating spit and sliced into a wrap with Tahini sauce although you may like to simply use a barbecue or a pan.

An alternative method is to cook the meat in the oven with your favourite vegetables, although you would use larger pieces of meat, such as Sirloin or Fillet rather than small pieces as you would for grilling.

Lamb is typically used for Shawarma, although the Sami's Kitchen Shawarma blend is also excellent with Beef and most red meats.

You may also like to try it sprinkled over vegetables before baking.

Shish Tawook Blend - [Middle Eastern Chicken Dish]

Flava has found it and now stocks Sami's Kitchen middle eastern spice blends.
Shish Tawook is a deliciously versatile Middle Eastern chicken dish. It can be grilled on a large rotating spit and sliced into a wrap or barbecued using skewers and served on a plate with your favourite salad.

An alternative favourite of our family is to cook the marinated
chicken in the oven with potatoes, in which case we would select larger pieces of chicken such as thighs, which are less prone to drying out.

Chicken is typically used with Shish Tawook, although we hope you experiment with the Sami's Kitchen Shish Tawook blend and maybe try it with your preferred fish.

You may also like to try it sprinkled over vegetables before baking.

Zaatar Rub - Spice Blend

Zaatar is a wonderful adaptable blend of herbs and spices to be found in absolutely every Middle Eastern kitchen. In fact, most countries from Lebanon, Syria and Jordan through to Morocco will have their own version of Zaatar, although it is generally always based on Thyme.

Thyme typically used for Zaatar in the Middle East is very different from the sometimes sharp or bitter Thyme or Oregano generally found in Australia and New Zealand. The smoothness of the authentic Thyme used in Sami's Kitchen products combined with the other Aleppo-style ingredients makes this blend a perfect match for a huge variety of meals and a must-have ingredient in your kitchen

Blue Wren Verjuice is produced in Mudgee NSW from premium early picked Shiraz grapes which create a natural acid, ending in a slightly sweet and full flavoured juice with hints of kiwi, rockmelon, honeydew and grapefruit.

Madras Style Beef Curry Paste

Flava's tempting Madras style curry paste from Island Curries is highly regarded amongst even the most discerning of curry addicts!
It is slightly yellower in colour than the lamb curry paste, however, with mustard seeds and turmeric being two key ingredients, it is a very zesty flavoursome curry paste!
Green beans are a wonderful addition to the curry for flavour and colour. They should be added about ½ an hour before serving and gently stirred through the curry uncooked.

It may be made into a sauce with yoghurt and drizzled over cooked fish which has been baked, fried or steamed. Even a curried mornay is a delicious way to try this curry paste with fish.
The cloves and the fennel are two of the key ingredients within this fish curry paste and both will complement almost any type of fish available.

Lamb Curry Paste

Flava presents this amazing curry paste from Island Curries. It is heavier and darker in texture and colour than most and is a very aromatic curry paste. The flavour is very distinct with cinnamon, paprika and cumin giving it a slightly sweet taste.
Variations include adding either, finely cubed sweet potato, pumpkin or parsnips for a more complete meal and an excellent complementation to the meat and curry.
Another delicious alternative, is to replace the addition of plain Tamar Valley yoghurt, with Tamar Valley Mango yoghurt. A slightly sweeter flavour is then achieved, which has proven to be very complementary to this curry paste and also very popular.
